Applications Open for the Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy 2025: Empowering South Africa's Future Entrepreneurs in Plumbing and Electrical Trades

Johannesburg, October 2024 - The Allan Gray Makers StartUp Academy is excited to announce the opening of applications for its 2025 cohort, opening on November 1, 2024, and closing on 31 January, 2025. This prestigious programme seeks ambitious South Africans with a passion for entrepreneurship in the plumbing and electrical trades.

The StartUp Academy is dedicated to nurturing entrepreneurial talent, providing aspiring business owners with the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to succeed in their ventures.

The StartUp Academy provides participants with:

  • Comprehensive training in entrepreneurial, industry, technical, business, and market readiness

  • Access to a network of successful entrepreneurs and industry experts

  • Ongoing mentorship and support throughout the programme

  • Lifelong support through the association upon successful completion


You can apply if you are:

  • Age: 18-35. Must be a South African citizen or hold a permanent residence status.

  • Location: Gauteng, Eastern Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, and Limpopo (classes will be held in Johannesburg, Gqeberha, Durban, Secunda, and Capricorn)

  • Intentions: Desire to start their own business.

  • Artisans with a trade test, OR, 3 years work experience and qualify to take a trade test, OR N2 TVET qualification and 3 years work experience in the relevant trades (Plumbing and Electrical).

  • Applications open on 1 November 2024 close at 5:00 PM on 31 January 2025
